About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic and visionary Director of Online Learning to lead the development and expansion of their digital education initiatives based at their Sunderland campus. This senior leadership role will shape the future of online education, overseeing curriculum design, technology integration, faculty support, and student success strategies. You will be instrumental in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, engaging, and accessible online programs that meet the evolving needs of learners. This position requires a leader who can inspire innovation, foster collaboration, and drive operational excellence within a dynamic academic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan for online learning programs and initiatives.
• Oversee the design, development, and continuous improvement of online courses and curricula.
• Lead and mentor a team of instructional designers, educational technologists, and online support staff.
• Ensure the effective implementation and utilization of learning management systems and other educational technologies.
• Foster strong relationships with academic departments, faculty, and external partners to support online program growth.
• Monitor key performance indicators, analyze data, and report on the effectiveness and financial health of online learning operations.
• Champion best practices in online pedagogy, accessibility, and student engagement.

Requirements

• Doctorate or Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Online Education, Instructional Design, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership experience in online education or distance learning administration.
• Proven track record of strategic planning, program development, and operational management in a higher education setting.
• Deep understanding of current trends, best practices, and technologies in online learning.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience managing budgets and leading diverse teams.
