Director of Operations and Finance

About the Role

Our client, a well-established charity making a significant impact in Scotland, is seeking a strategic and highly organised Director of Operations and Finance to oversee all aspects of their non-programme activities. This remote position requires a seasoned professional who can manage financial planning, budgeting, risk management, and operational efficiency to ensure the smooth and effective running of the organization. You will be key in providing the financial stewardship and operational infrastructure necessary to support our client's mission and growth, working collaboratively with the senior leadership team from anywhere in the UK.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage the annual budget, financial forecasts, and long-term financial planning.
• Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, payroll, and grant management.
• Implement and monitor financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance and best practice.
• Manage operational aspects, including IT infrastructure, HR administration, and office management (where applicable).
• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for financial and operational risks.
• Provide financial and operational reports to the board of trustees and senior management.

Requirements

• Significant experience (8+ years) in financial management and operational leadership, preferably within the charitable sector .
• Professional qualification in accounting or finance (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA) is essential.
• Strong understanding of charity finance regulations and SORP.
• Proven experience in budgeting, financial forecasting, and risk management.
• Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to work effectively remotely.
• Experience with financial management software and systems.
