Distribution Centre Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Distribution Centre Manager to lead their operations in Edinburgh . You will be responsible for the overall efficiency, productivity, and safety of the distribution centre, managing a large team and ensuring the smooth flow of goods. This role requires a strong leader with a proven track record in optimizing warehouse processes and driving continuous improvement. The hybrid nature of this role allows for strategic planning and administrative tasks to be managed remotely, while maintaining a vital on-site presence to oversee daily operations and team performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of distribution centre operations, including receiving, storage, order picking, packing, and dispatch.
• Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service levels.
• Manage, train, and motivate a diverse workforce to achieve high levels of productivity and performance.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Manage inventory control processes to maintain accuracy and minimize stock discrepancies.
• Collaborate with other departments to align distribution strategies with overall business objectives.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in distribution centre management, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
• Demonstrated success in improving operational efficiency and implementing cost-saving measures.
• Strong understanding of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and logistics technologies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to manage teams and foster a positive and productive work environment.
• Capability to effectively manage hybrid work responsibilities, blending remote oversight with on-site leadership.
