Distribution Centre Supervisor

About the Role

Our client is recruiting for an experienced Distribution Centre Supervisor to lead and manage a team within their busy facility in Portsmouth . You will be responsible for overseeing daily warehouse operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to safety standards. This role requires strong leadership skills, the ability to motivate a team, and a solid understanding of warehouse processes, from goods receipt to dispatch. You will play a crucial part in optimizing workflow and ensuring that operational targets are consistently met, contributing to the overall success of the distribution centre.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct the work of warehouse staff, providing guidance and training.
• Oversee the efficient receiving, warehousing, and distribution of goods.
• Ensure that all warehouse operations are conducted in compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Manage inventory levels and conduct regular stock checks to maintain accuracy.
• Implement and improve operational processes to enhance productivity and reduce errors.
• Monitor team performance, conduct appraisals, and address any performance issues.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a warehouse or distribution environment.
• Solid understanding of warehouse operations, including inventory management and logistics.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations applicable to warehouses.
• Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and standard office software.
