About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and resilient Domestic Abuse Support Officer to join their vital Community & Social Care team in Sheffield . This crucial role involves providing specialist support, advice, and advocacy to individuals and families affected by domestic abuse. You will work to ensure the safety and well-being of clients, assisting them in accessing necessary resources, developing safety plans, and navigating legal and support systems. This position requires a compassionate approach, strong organisational skills, and a commitment to empowering survivors, working closely with local agencies to provide a comprehensive safety net within the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide immediate crisis intervention and ongoing emotional and practical support to victims of domestic abuse.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop personalised safety plans in collaboration with clients.
• Offer advocacy and support in navigating legal processes, housing options, and accessing other specialist services.
• Liaise effectively with police, health services, housing providers, and other agencies to ensure coordinated support.
• Maintain accurate, confidential case records and manage caseloads efficiently.
• Deliver awareness-raising sessions and contribute to preventative strategies within the community.

Requirements

• Experience working with victims of domestic abuse or in a similar support role.
• In-depth knowledge of domestic abuse issues, support services, and safeguarding procedures.
• Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills, with a non-judgmental and empathetic approach.
• Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure and manage sensitive information appropriately.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a complex caseload.
