Drainage and Flood Risk Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Drainage and Flood Risk Engineer to join their multidisciplinary team in Leeds , operating under a hybrid work model. This role is vital for designing sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), assessing flood risks, and developing mitigation strategies for new developments and existing infrastructure. You will contribute to projects that aim to enhance urban resilience and protect communities from flooding. Key Responsibilities

• Design effective surface water drainage systems , including SuDS, for residential, commercial, and industrial developments.
• Conduct flood risk assessments (FRA) and develop flood mitigation strategies in accordance with national policy.
• Prepare hydraulic models and reports using industry-standard software (e.g., MicroDrainage, InfoWorks ICM).
• Collaborate with planning authorities, environmental agencies, and other stakeholders to gain approvals.
• Provide drainage advice and input during the planning and design stages of various projects.
• Undertake site inspections to monitor the implementation of drainage schemes.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in drainage design and flood risk assessment .
• Proficiency with drainage design software such as MicroDrainage and/or InfoWorks ICM.
• Strong understanding of The SuDS Manual (C753) and current flood risk guidance.
• Knowledge of hydrological principles and hydraulic calculations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report preparation and client liaison.
