Drainage Civil Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a motivated Drainage Civil Engineer to join their established team in Plymouth . This role is focused on the design and implementation of effective drainage systems for a variety of development projects, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and sustainable practices. You will work closely with a team of specialists to address challenges related to surface water management, foul water drainage, and flood alleviation. Key Responsibilities

• Design surface water and foul water drainage systems for new developments and existing infrastructure.
• Conduct hydraulic calculations and produce drainage layout drawings and specifications.
• Perform flood risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies in line with current legislation.
• Collaborate with planning authorities, environmental agencies, and construction teams to secure approvals and ensure seamless project delivery.
• Liaise with clients to understand project requirements and provide technical advice on drainage matters.
• Ensure all designs adhere to Sewers for Adoption standards and other relevant regulatory guidelines.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant environmental engineering discipline.
• Proven experience in drainage design and flood risk assessment.
• Proficiency in drainage design software such as MicroDrainage (WinDes) and AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of hydrological principles and UK drainage standards.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with good communication skills.
• Familiarity with environmental impact assessments and sustainable drainage systems (SuDS).
