Drainage Civil Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Drainage Civil Engineer to join their respected team in Glasgow . This role is vital for the successful implementation of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and traditional drainage infrastructure across numerous development projects. You will contribute to the planning, design, and implementation phases, ensuring efficient water management and environmental compliance. The position involves a hybrid working arrangement, combining remote work with essential on-site and office-based collaboration in our Glasgow hub. We seek an individual passionate about water engineering and committed to sustainable development practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop foul and surface water drainage strategies and systems for residential, commercial, and industrial developments.
• Prepare hydraulic calculations, drainage layouts, and specifications using relevant software.
• Conduct Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) and ensure compliance with relevant planning policies and environmental regulations.
• Liaise with local authorities, water companies, and environmental agencies to obtain necessary approvals.
• Undertake site inspections to monitor the construction of drainage infrastructure and resolve any issues.
• Contribute to the company's expertise in sustainable drainage solutions and innovative water management techniques.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline with a focus on water engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in drainage design and infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in drainage design software such as MicroDrainage (WinDes) and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of The Sewers for Adoption regulations and other relevant water standards.
• Experience with Flood Risk Assessments and the principles of SuDS.
• Good understanding of project management principles and the ability to work collaboratively.
