Drainage Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Drainage Engineer to join their team in Oxford . You will be responsible for the design and implementation of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and traditional drainage solutions for a variety of development projects. This role requires a strong understanding of hydrology, hydraulic modeling, and relevant environmental regulations. You will work closely with other engineers and planning authorities to ensure that drainage designs are effective, compliant, and environmentally sound, contributing to resilient infrastructure in the Oxfordshire region. This is an excellent opportunity to specialize in a critical area of civil engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop surface water and foul water drainage systems for new developments and existing infrastructure.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and modeling using industry-standard software.
• Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and reports for drainage schemes.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant legislation, Sewers for Adoption standards, and local authority requirements.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, statutory undertakers, and regulatory bodies to gain approvals.
• Conduct site visits to assess existing drainage conditions and monitor the implementation of new systems.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related environmental science discipline.
• 2-5 years of experience in drainage design and water management.
• Proficiency in drainage design software (e.g., MicroDrainage, InfoWorks ICM) and AutoCAD.
• Solid understanding of hydrological principles, flood risk assessment, and SuDS techniques.
• Knowledge of relevant UK standards and guidance, including Sewers for Adoption.
• Good report writing and communication skills.
