About the Role
Our client is looking for a skilled and experienced Drilling Engineer to join their operational team in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UK . This role is central to the planning, execution, and optimization of drilling operations for oil and gas wells. You will be responsible for developing detailed drilling programs, managing drilling risks, and ensuring wells are drilled safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively, adhering to the highest industry standards. Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive drilling programs , including well trajectory, casing design, and mud programs.
- Plan and execute drilling operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance.
- Identify and mitigate drilling hazards, such as kicks, lost circulation, and stuck pipe.
- Optimize drilling performance, including Rate of Penetration (ROP) and non-productive time (NPT) reduction.
- Manage the procurement of drilling services and equipment, and oversee contractor performance.
- Conduct post-drilling analysis and lessons learned to improve future operations.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of drilling operations and performance metrics.
Requirements
- Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in drilling engineering , with a strong understanding of onshore and/or offshore operations.
- Proficiency in drilling software and planning tools.
- Solid knowledge of well control principles, casing design, cementing, and formation evaluation.
- Experience in managing drilling risks and implementing safety procedures.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
