Drilling Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Drilling Engineer to join their operations team in Birmingham, West Midlands, UK . You will be responsible for the planning, execution, and supervision of drilling operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. This role requires close collaboration with various teams, including geologists, completion engineers, and rig personnel, to manage all phases of the well construction process. Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed drilling programs and procedures, including wellbore trajectories, casing designs, and mud programs.
• Plan and execute directional drilling operations, ensuring wellbore stability and preventing losses.
• Manage drilling equipment and services, coordinating with vendors and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
• Monitor drilling progress, analyze real-time data, and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Conduct post-drilling analysis and contribute to lessons learned for future operations.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations in Birmingham .

Requirements

• Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in drilling engineering, preferably within the Oil & Gas sector .
• Demonstrated experience with drilling fluids, cementation techniques, and well control principles.
• Proficiency in drilling simulation software and project management tools.
• Strong understanding of HSE regulations and best practices in drilling operations.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
