Drilling Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and skilled Drilling Engineer to join their operational team based in Cardiff . This role is integral to the safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of drilling operations for exploration and production wells. You will be responsible for designing drilling programs, managing drilling operations on-site, and troubleshooting any challenges that arise. This hands-on position requires a strong technical background and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, field-oriented environment, contributing to the success of critical upstream projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and plan drilling operations , including well trajectories, casing programs, and mud systems.
• Supervise and manage drilling activities at the wellsite, ensuring adherence to safety procedures and operational plans.
• Select and procure drilling equipment, services, and materials necessary for operations.
• Monitor drilling performance, analyze data, and implement optimizations to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Conduct post-drill analysis and prepare detailed reports on drilling operations.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations .

Requirements

• Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as a Drilling Engineer with a strong track record in operational drilling.
• Proficiency in drilling software and planning tools.
• Solid understanding of well control principles and procedures.
• Experience with various drilling techniques and technologies.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and make critical decisions in a field-based setting.
