About the Role

Our client is seeking a qualified Drilling Fluids Engineer to join their operations team in Sunderland . This critical role focuses on the design, management, and optimization of drilling fluid systems to ensure safe and efficient well construction. You will provide technical expertise on mud properties, performance, and cost-effectiveness for various drilling projects in the oil and gas sector . The position requires a strong understanding of fluid chemistry, rheology, and downhole conditions, along with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve fluid-related challenges encountered during drilling operations. This role is essential for maintaining wellbore stability, controlling formation pressures, and facilitating efficient drilling.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement drilling fluid programs tailored to specific well objectives and geological formations.
• Monitor drilling fluid properties on-site and in the laboratory, making necessary adjustments to maintain optimal performance.
• Analyze fluid performance data to identify trends, optimize treatments, and control costs.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for drilling fluid issues encountered during operations.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company standards for fluid management and disposal.
• Collaborate with drilling engineers and operational teams to ensure seamless integration of fluid services with drilling operations.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Drilling Fluids Engineer or in a related mud engineering role within the oil and gas industry .
• In-depth knowledge of drilling fluid systems, additives, rheology, and fluid chemistry.
• Familiarity with solids control equipment and techniques.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and hands-on experience in diagnosing and resolving drilling fluid challenges.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure, both independently and as part of a team.
