Drilling Fluids Engineer

About the Role

Our client requires a skilled Drilling Fluids Engineer to support their drilling operations, primarily based in Bristol . This role is crucial for managing the design, application, and performance of drilling fluid systems to ensure safe and efficient drilling operations. You will work closely with drilling engineers and rig site personnel to monitor fluid properties, troubleshoot issues, and optimize fluid performance to meet project objectives, including wellbore stability and formation protection.

Key Responsibilities

• Design drilling fluid programs tailored to specific well plans and geological conditions.
• Manage the inventory and logistics of drilling fluid materials and equipment.
• Conduct routine testing and analysis of drilling fluid properties on-site and in the lab.
• Provide technical recommendations for fluid adjustments to optimize drilling performance and mitigate risks.
• Troubleshoot any drilling fluid related issues encountered during drilling operations.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations regarding drilling fluid disposal and management.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related scientific field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a drilling fluids engineer or in a related mud engineering role.
• In-depth knowledge of drilling fluid chemistry, properties, and applications.
• Experience with various types of drilling fluid systems (e.g., water-based, oil-based).
• Familiarity with drilling operations and associated challenges.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
