Early Years Teacher - Forest School Focus

About the Role

Our client is seeking a passionate and qualified Early Years Teacher with a focus on Forest School principles to join their dedicated team in Edinburgh . This role involves facilitating outdoor learning experiences, encouraging children's natural curiosity, and fostering a deep connection with nature. You will design and implement a curriculum that embraces exploration, risk-taking within safe boundaries, and hands-on learning in an outdoor environment. This position is ideal for an educator who is enthusiastic about outdoor education and committed to providing a holistic, child-led learning experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and lead engaging outdoor learning activities in line with Forest School philosophy and the Curriculum for Excellence.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of children during all outdoor sessions, managing risks effectively.
• Observe and document children's learning and development, supporting their holistic growth.
• Promote environmental awareness and a love for nature among the children.
• Collaborate with parents and colleagues to ensure a consistent and supportive approach to childcare.
• Maintain and manage outdoor learning resources and equipment.

Requirements

• Recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, GTCS registration) or equivalent in Early Years Education.
• Experience delivering or supporting Forest School programs or similar outdoor education.
• Strong knowledge of child development and pedagogical approaches, especially those suited for outdoor learning.
• Excellent risk assessment and management skills.
• Ability to inspire and engage young children in natural environments.
• Commitment to working collaboratively and contributing to a positive nursery culture in Edinburgh .
