Stoke-on-Trent and surrounding areasHours: 1030 hours per week, depending on availability and placement needsJob Type: Subcontractor/ fixed-term placement workStart Date: Ongoing opportunities availableEnhanced DBS (required)We are looking for experienced SEND tutors to support children and young people across Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding areas.This is a face-to-face tutoring role within alternative provision, supporting students who may currently be outside of mainstream education or receiving personalised education through council-funded support, EHCPs, EOTAS, or specialist placements.We are looking for tutors with strong experience supporting learners with additional needs, including ADHD, autism, SEMH needs, trauma backgrounds, vulnerable children, challenging behaviour, low confidence, or students who require a more structured and individualised learning approach.Some placements may focus on academic support such as English, Maths or Functional Skills, while others may focus more on engagement, behaviour, routine, confidence building, social development, or helping the student access learning again in a safe and supportive way.New roles are usually added weekly or biweekly, and once a tutor is matched with a student, they will normally remain assigned to that child until the end of term or for the agreed placement period.Provide face-to-face tutoring and support to SEND learnersAdapt lessons and activities around each students needs and abilitySupport academic progress, engagement, confidence and behaviourWork with students who may have EHCPs, SEMH needs, trauma backgrounds or complex needsCreate a safe, calm and consistent learning environmentComplete required session reports after each sessionFollow safeguarding procedures and professional expectationsWe Are Looking For Someone Who Has:Experience supporting SEND, SEMH, alternative provision or vulnerable learnersConfidence working with students with ADHD, autism, trauma, behaviour needs or EHCPsA patient, professional and resilient approachGood behaviour management and communication skillsAvailability for face-to-face work in Stoke-on-Trent and nearby areasA genuine interest in supporting children who may not currently be accessing mainstream educationDesirable Experience:Tutoring, teaching, mentoring, youth work or support work experienceExperience delivering English, Maths or Functional SkillsExperience in alternative provision, schools, specialist settings or care environmentsUnderstanding of safeguarding, reporting and professional boundariesRequirements:Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to applyRight to work in the UKTwo professional referencesAbility to travel to face-to-face placementsReliability and clear communicationPay:Competitive hourly rate, discussed depending on experience and placement requirements.How to Apply:Please apply with your CV and a short summary of your experience working with SEND learners, vulnerable children, tutoring, mentoring, teaching or alternative provision.
