About the Role
Our client is seeking compassionate and dedicated Elderly Care Assistants to provide essential support to older adults in their homes within the Reading area. This role is crucial in enabling seniors to maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life within their familiar surroundings. You will offer a range of support services, from personal care to companionship, building meaningful relationships with clients and their families. This hands-on position requires a caring nature, reliability, and a commitment to person-centred care practices, contributing to a respected local care service.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality personal care, including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, with respect and dignity.
- Assist with domestic tasks such as light housekeeping, laundry, and meal preparation to ensure a comfortable living environment.
- Offer companionship and emotional support, engaging clients in conversation and activities they enjoy.
- Administer medication as prescribed, following strict protocols and accurate record-keeping.
- Monitor clients' health and well-being, reporting any changes or concerns to supervisors or healthcare professionals promptly.
- Accompany clients on appointments or social outings as needed, ensuring their safety and comfort.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a care assistant, preferably supporting the elderly.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to provide excellent care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and their families.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a responsible attitude towards duties.
- Willingness to undertake relevant training, including First Aid and Safeguarding.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including potential weekends, within the Reading area.
