Electrical Controls Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Electrical Controls Engineer to join their manufacturing facility in Bristol . This position is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical control systems for production machinery and automated processes. You will play a key role in enhancing operational efficiency, reliability, and safety within the plant. The role requires hands-on expertise and a collaborative approach within a production environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical control systems for manufacturing equipment using PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs.
• Create and maintain detailed electrical schematics , panel layouts, and wiring diagrams.
• Program and troubleshoot PLC systems from various manufacturers (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell Automation).
• Implement and optimize control strategies to improve machine performance and reduce downtime.
• Perform electrical system diagnostics and troubleshooting on the factory floor.
• Ensure all control systems comply with safety standards and regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in electrical controls engineering for industrial automation.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (Ladder Logic, Structured Text) and HMI development.
• Strong understanding of industrial electrical components, motor controls, and power distribution.
• Experience with VFDs, servo drives, and robotics is advantageous.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced environment.
