About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Electrical Design Engineer with a focus on Building Services to join their progressive team in Edinburgh . This role is central to designing and delivering electrical systems for a diverse range of construction projects, ensuring functionality, efficiency, and compliance. You will work closely with architects, M&E consultants, and construction teams to bring building designs to life, contributing to sustainable and modern infrastructure. This hybrid role offers a balance between collaborative office work and remote flexibility, allowing you to contribute effectively to projects across Scotland.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and specify electrical systems for new builds and refurbishments, including lighting, power, and fire alarm systems.
- Produce detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and schedules using relevant software.
- Perform load calculations, cable sizing, and equipment selection.
- Ensure designs comply with building regulations, relevant British Standards, and client specifications.
- Collaborate with project teams to integrate electrical designs seamlessly with other building services.
- Conduct site inspections to verify installations and resolve design queries.
Requirements
- Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- 3-5 years of experience in electrical design, specifically within the building services sector.
- Proficiency in Revit MEP and AutoCAD is essential.
- Good understanding of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and CIBSE guidelines.
- Familiarity with sustainable design principles and energy efficiency measures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for hybrid working.
