Electrical Design Engineer (Building Services)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Electrical Design Engineer specializing in Building Services to join their team in Nottingham . This role is integral to the design and delivery of electrical systems for a diverse range of construction projects, including commercial, residential, and institutional buildings. You will be responsible for creating detailed electrical designs that are energy-efficient, compliant with building regulations, and meet client requirements. The position offers a chance to work on varied projects within a reputable consultancy, contributing to sustainable and modern infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and specify electrical systems for buildings, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, and security systems.
• Prepare detailed electrical drawings, calculations, and specifications using industry-standard software.
• Ensure all designs comply with current UK Building Regulations (e.g., Part M, Part P) and relevant British Standards.
• Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and project managers to integrate electrical designs seamlessly.
• Conduct site inspections to monitor the progress and quality of electrical installations in Nottingham .
• Provide technical advice and support to clients, contractors, and site teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

• Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical design for building services.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or similar design and modeling software.
• Strong understanding of lighting design principles, power systems, and low-voltage systems.
• Knowledge of energy efficiency standards and sustainable design practices.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
