Electrical Design Engineer - Embedded Systems

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Electrical Design Engineer with a focus on Embedded Systems to join their innovative team in Oxford . This on-site role is integral to the development of next-generation electronic products, demanding a strong understanding of both hardware design and embedded system integration. You will be involved in the complete lifecycle of product development, from concept and design through to testing and validation. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop embedded electrical systems, including microcontroller-based solutions and associated peripherals.
• Create detailed schematics, PCB layouts, and Bill of Materials for new product designs.
• Integrate electrical hardware with firmware and software components, ensuring seamless system functionality.
• Conduct thorough testing and debugging of electrical designs and embedded systems.
• Collaborate with mechanical and software engineering teams throughout the product development process.
• Research and select appropriate electronic components to meet performance, cost, and reliability requirements.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering , Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in electrical design, with a specific focus on embedded systems.
• Proficiency in using EDA tools for schematic capture and PCB layout (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence).
• Experience with common microcontrollers (e.g., ARM, ESP32) and their associated development environments.
• Understanding of communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART) and power management techniques.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team setting.
