About the Role

Our client is looking for a meticulous Electrical Design Engineer to join their specialised marine division in Portsmouth . Key Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for marine applications, including power generation, distribution, and control systems.
• Create detailed electrical schematics, cable schedules, and equipment layouts using CAD software .
• Ensure compliance with relevant marine classification society rules (e.g., Lloyd's Register, DNV) and safety regulations.
• Specify and select marine-grade electrical equipment, ensuring suitability for harsh environments.
• Collaborate with naval architects, mechanical engineers, and project managers on integrated vessel designs.
• Perform electrical load calculations and system integration analysis for marine projects.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in electrical design, preferably within the marine or offshore industry.
• Proficiency in electrical CAD tools and experience with power system design and analysis.
• Knowledge of marine electrical standards, hazardous area classifications, and EMC requirements.
• Familiarity with instrumentation and control systems used in maritime settings.
