Electrical Design Engineer - Power Systems

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Electrical Design Engineer specializing in Power Systems to join their innovative team based in Milton Keynes . This role is key to designing and developing electrical infrastructure for a range of energy projects, ensuring efficient and reliable power distribution. You will work on complex electrical schematics, power flow analysis, and protection schemes, contributing to the successful delivery of cutting-edge energy solutions that meet stringent industry standards and client requirements, fostering a collaborative environment focused on technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop detailed electrical schematics, layouts, and specifications for power distribution systems.
• Perform power system analysis , including load flow, fault calculations, and transient stability studies.
• Specify and select electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, cables, and protection relays.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant national and international electrical standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with project teams, including mechanical engineers and civil engineers, to integrate electrical systems seamlessly.
• Provide technical support during the construction, commissioning, and testing phases of projects.

Requirements

• BEng/MEng or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in electrical design engineering, with a focus on power systems .
• Proficiency in using electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, PSS/E, or similar.
• Strong understanding of power system protection principles and equipment.
• Knowledge of relevant UK and international electrical codes and standards (e.g., BS 7671, IEC standards).
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues.
