Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and proactive Electrical Design Engineer to join their established engineering department in Birmingham . In this role, you will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of electrical design projects, from initial concept and schematic development through to detailed design, testing, and implementation. You will play a crucial part in developing innovative solutions for a variety of industrial and commercial applications, ensuring all designs meet stringent performance and safety criteria. Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts using specialized design software.
• Specify electrical components, equipment, and materials, ensuring compatibility and cost-effectiveness.
• Perform calculations for power distribution, load balancing, and fault current analysis.
• Conduct design reviews and feasibility studies to identify potential challenges and solutions.
• Oversee the implementation and installation of electrical systems, providing on-site technical support when necessary.
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, and other departments to ensure project requirements are fully understood and met.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrable experience in electrical design, preferably within an industrial or manufacturing setting.
• Proficiency in using CAD software for electrical design (e.g., EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical).
• Strong understanding of PLC systems, motor controls, and instrumentation.
• Knowledge of relevant electrical codes and standards (e.g., BS 7671).
• Ability to manage multiple design tasks and meet project deadlines effectively.
