Job Description
Purpose
To support the delivery of high-quality electrical engineering designs for water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the UK. Working within a multidisciplinary water engineering team, you will produce electrical design deliverables, collaborate with senior engineers and contribute to water projects from concept and detailed design through to construction.
Responsibilities
*
Produce electrical engineering designs for water and wastewater projects that meet safety, quality and client requirements.
*
Prepare electrical design calculations, drawings, reports and technical specifications for water and wastewater treatment infrastructure.
*
Develop LV electrical designs for water treatment plants, wastewater treatment works, pumping stations and associated assets under the guidance of senior engineers.
*
Work closely with CAD technicians to produce accurate and coordinated water engineering design drawings.
*
Liaise with equipment suppliers, manufacturers and other engineering disciplines involved in water-sector project delivery.
*
Ensure designs comply with relevant legislation, British Standards, water industry specifications and company procedures.
*
Assist with water project design reviews, risk assessments and value-engineering exercises.
*
Support the implementation and recording of electrical design changes throughout water project delivery.
*
Contribute to estimating design hours for allocated tasks.
*
Attend client, supplier and internal water project design meetings as required.
*
Continue developing technical and water industry knowledge through mentoring, CPD and professional development.
Required Qualifications and Experience
*
Degree, HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
*
Three to five years’ electrical design experience within the UK water industry.
*
Experience producing LV electrical designs for water or wastewater treatment projects.
*
Working knowledge of relevant British Standards and UK water industry design practices.
*
Experience using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.
*
Understanding of multidisciplinary water engineering and design environments.
*
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
*
Working towards Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer status.
*
Experience with ICA, control systems or telemetry within the water industry.
*
Knowledge of ATEX design principles.
*
Experience using Amtech, Trimble ProDesign or similar electrical design software.
*
Familiarity with BIM processes and Common Data Environments, such as ProjectWise or Autodesk Construction Cloud.
