Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proficient Electrical Design Engineer to join their team in Plymouth . This role is focused on creating detailed electrical designs for a variety of industrial and commercial projects. You will be responsible for producing high-quality schematics, layouts, and specifications, ensuring designs are compliant with all relevant standards and regulations. This hybrid position offers a balanced approach, allowing for collaborative work in the office and focused design efforts remotely, contributing to key projects within a growing organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed electrical design drawings, including schematics, single-line diagrams, and control panel layouts.
• Specify electrical equipment and components, ensuring they meet project requirements and budget constraints.
• Perform electrical calculations such as load assessments, voltage drop, and fault current analysis.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant British Standards, IET Wiring Regulations, and other applicable codes.
• Coordinate with project managers, clients, and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
• Review and approve designs submitted by third-party contractors and suppliers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer, preferably within industrial or building services sectors.
• Proficiency in electrical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN) and MS Office Suite.
• Good understanding of power distribution, control systems, and low-voltage systems.
• Strong technical and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills suitable for a hybrid working environment.
