About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Electrical Design Engineer to join their expanding operations in Birmingham . This role is crucial for designing and implementing robust electrical solutions for industrial automation and manufacturing projects. You will be involved in the entire project lifecycle, from conceptualization and schematic design to installation supervision and commissioning. Working within a dedicated engineering department, you will contribute to projects that enhance operational efficiency and safety for a diverse clientele. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer passionate about innovative design and practical application in a hands-on environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and wiring diagrams for industrial machinery and systems.
- Specify and select electrical components, including motors, sensors, PLCs, and switchgear, ensuring compatibility and performance.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure all designs comply with relevant electrical safety standards (e.g., BS 7671).
- Collaborate closely with project managers and clients to understand technical requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
- Provide technical support during the manufacturing, installation, and commissioning phases of projects.
- Contribute to value engineering efforts to optimize design costs and improve manufacturability.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a closely related discipline.
- Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer , preferably in an industrial automation context.
- Proficiency with EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar ECAD software.
- Solid understanding of PLC programming concepts and HMI design.
- Experience with motor control, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and power distribution systems.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple design tasks concurrently.
