Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Electrical Design Engineer to join their established team in Birmingham . You will play a key role in the conceptualization, design, and implementation of innovative electrical solutions for a diverse range of industrial and commercial projects. This role involves close collaboration with architects, project managers, and clients to ensure that all electrical designs meet functional requirements, regulatory standards, and budgetary constraints. The hybrid work model allows for focused office-based design work and collaborative sessions, balanced with the flexibility of remote work. You'll be contributing to projects that shape infrastructure and enhance operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control system designs using industry-standard software.
• Perform load calculations, power distribution design, and lighting design for various project types.
• Collaborate with site teams and construction personnel to ensure accurate implementation of design specifications.
• Conduct site surveys and inspections to gather necessary information and verify installations.
• Review and approve shop drawings and submittals from vendors and contractors.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant building codes, safety regulations, and client specifications.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer, with a portfolio of completed projects.
• Proficiency in using CAD software for electrical design, such as AutoCAD Electrical or Revit MEP.
• Solid understanding of electrical codes and standards (e.g., BS 7671).
• Experience with power systems, lighting control, and low-voltage systems.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a hybrid team environment.
