Electrical Engineer - Power Distribution

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer specializing in Power Distribution to join their team in Wolverhampton . This role is vital for ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of the local electricity network. You will be involved in the design, planning, and maintenance of distribution systems, substation equipment, and network upgrades. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of power engineering principles, network analysis, and safety procedures, contributing to the resilience and modernization of energy infrastructure in the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and engineer new electrical distribution infrastructure, including substations and feeder lines.
• Conduct load flow analysis , fault studies, and protection coordination for the distribution network.
• Develop and implement network upgrade and maintenance programs to improve reliability and capacity.
• Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of new electrical equipment.
• Ensure all designs and work comply with relevant industry standards , regulations, and safety codes.
• Investigate and resolve power quality issues and network disturbances.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in power distribution engineering.
• Proficiency in electrical design software and network analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, CYME).
• Strong knowledge of high voltage equipment, protection systems, and network operations.
• Familiarity with UK electricity network regulations and standards.
• Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
