Electrical Engineer - Power Generation

About the Role

Our client, a key player in the energy sector, is seeking a talented Electrical Engineer with a specialization in Power Generation to join their team on a remote basis, supporting projects across the Nottingham region and nationally. This role is integral to the design, development, and optimization of power generation facilities, including renewable sources and conventional power plants. You will apply your technical expertise to ensure the efficient, reliable, and safe operation of these critical energy assets. Key Responsibilities

• Design and specify electrical systems for power generation plants, including turbine controls, generator connections, and switchgear.
• Perform electrical engineering calculations, including load flow, fault analysis, and protection coordination studies for generation facilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, project managers, and construction personnel throughout the project lifecycle.
• Develop technical specifications, equipment requisitions, and review vendor submittals.
• Oversee the commissioning and testing of electrical systems to ensure performance and safety standards are met.
• Investigate and resolve technical issues related to power generation equipment and systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems or Power Generation.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with significant experience in power generation.
• Strong understanding of generator technology, transformers, switchgear, and protection systems for power plants.
• Proficiency in power system analysis software and simulation tools.
• Experience with renewable energy generation technologies (e.g., solar, wind, biomass) is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively remotely .
