Electrical Maintenance Engineer - Manufacturing

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join their manufacturing plant in Sunderland . In this critical role, you will ensure the optimal performance and reliability of all electrical systems and machinery within the facility. You will be responsible for preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and rapid repair of electrical equipment to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules. This hands-on position is ideal for a skilled engineer who thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment and is committed to upholding the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative maintenance on electrical equipment, including motors, control panels, and power distribution systems.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults and breakdowns efficiently, utilizing appropriate testing equipment and tools.
• Install and commission new electrical equipment and systems according to specifications and safety regulations.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to guide repair and maintenance activities.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations and company policies.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance performed, including parts used and time taken, using the company's CMMS.

Requirements

• Qualified Electrician or hold a relevant HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Proven experience in electrical maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Strong understanding of AC/DC motors, VFDs, PLCs, and control systems.
• Ability to read and understand complex electrical drawings and schematics.
• Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
