Electrical Maintenance Engineer - Power Generation

About the Role

Our client is looking for a diligent and skilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join their critical infrastructure team in Cardiff , focused on ensuring the reliable operation of power generation facilities . This hands-on role is essential for maintaining the integrity and functionality of complex electrical systems, from high-voltage distribution to intricate control systems. You will play a key part in preventing downtime and ensuring the continuous supply of energy, working within a safety-first culture. The successful candidate will possess strong diagnostic skills and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of electrical safety and maintenance practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on all electrical equipment, including generators, switchgear, transformers, and control systems.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults and malfunctions in a timely and efficient manner.
• Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to guide maintenance and repair activities.
• Ensure all work is carried out in strict accordance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
• Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments on electrical installations and equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment status.

Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer , preferably in a power generation or industrial setting.
• Strong knowledge of high-voltage systems, protection relays, and control systems.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
• Familiarity with relevant electrical safety standards and regulations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong emphasis on safety awareness.
