Electrical Maintenance Engineer - Renewables

About the Role

Our client is looking for a diligent Electrical Maintenance Engineer with a specialization in Renewable Energy Systems to join their operational team in Sunderland . You will be responsible for maintaining the electrical integrity and operational efficiency of renewable energy assets, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum output. This hands-on role requires a proactive approach to fault finding, repair, and the implementation of preventive maintenance programs. Working within a dedicated engineering department, you will contribute to the reliability of critical energy infrastructure and play a vital part in the transition to sustainable power sources, operating within a supportive team environment focused on safety and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform electrical inspections, testing, and maintenance on a variety of renewable energy equipment, including solar arrays, battery storage systems, and grid connections.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults, malfunctions, and system failures promptly and efficiently.
• Install, commission, and modify electrical systems and equipment according to design specifications and safety standards.
• Conduct root cause analysis for recurring electrical issues and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain detailed maintenance logs, technical documentation, and inventory of electrical spares.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant electrical safety regulations and industry best practices.

Requirements

• HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Demonstrable experience in electrical maintenance, particularly within the energy or industrial sector.
• Proficiency with electrical testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
• Strong knowledge of low and medium voltage systems , control panels, and power distribution.
• Familiarity with safety protocols such as LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) and risk assessments.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
