About the Role
Our client is seeking a diligent and skilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join their operational team in Cardiff . This role is essential for ensuring the optimal functioning and reliability of all electrical equipment and systems within their facilities. You will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, diagnosing and rectifying faults, and implementing preventative measures to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity. This is a hands-on position for an individual who is proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining high safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on a wide range of electrical equipment, including motors, generators, control panels, and lighting systems.
- Respond promptly to electrical breakdowns, diagnosing faults using appropriate testing equipment and implementing effective repairs.
- Install, modify, and commission new electrical systems and equipment as required.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations and company policies, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Participate in on-call rotas to provide emergency support outside of standard working hours.
Requirements
- Qualified Electrician with a recognized certification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
- Proven experience (3+ years) in electrical maintenance, preferably within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of 3-phase power systems , control circuits, and PLCs.
- Proficiency with testing and diagnostic equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and insulation testers.
- Knowledge of relevant safety standards (e.g., BS 7671).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with good problem-solving skills.
