Electrical Maintenance Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a qualified and proactive Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join their manufacturing facility in the vibrant city of Plymouth . This critical role ensures the safe and efficient operation of all electrical systems and machinery on site. You will be responsible for both planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs, minimizing downtime and ensuring compliance with all relevant electrical safety standards. This is a key position within the engineering department, contributing to the operational success of a prominent industrial presence in Devon.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on all electrical equipment and systems.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults and breakdowns across the plant, including control systems and PLCs.
• Install, test, and commission new electrical equipment and modifications.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics , diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Ensure all work complies with current electrical regulations and health and safety legislation.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.

Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of PLCs, motor control systems, and variable speed drives.
• Experience with testing and inspection of electrical installations.
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations (e.g., BS 7671).
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach to fault finding.
