Electrical Power Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Power Systems Engineer to join their established team in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire . This role is critical for the design, analysis, and operation of complex electrical power networks, serving diverse industrial and commercial clients. You will be responsible for ensuring the stability, reliability, and efficiency of these systems, undertaking detailed studies and contributing to the development of new infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities

• Perform power system studies, including load flow, short circuit analysis, stability, and protection coordination using specialized software.
• Design and specify electrical infrastructure for power generation, transmission, and distribution systems.
• Develop protection schemes and specify protection relays and associated equipment.
• Conduct site surveys and inspections to assess existing power systems and identify areas for improvement.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and project documentation for clients and regulatory bodies.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure the successful implementation of electrical power projects.
• Provide expert technical advice and support to clients and internal stakeholders on power system matters.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Significant experience (7+ years) in electrical power system design, analysis, and protection.
• Proficiency with industry-standard power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, DigSilent PowerFactory).
• In-depth knowledge of power system equipment, standards, and operational practices.
• Experience with project management and client liaison.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
