Job Description
Electrical Project & Maintenance Manager – Portslade
Location: Portslade, Brighton
Salary: £45,000 + £5,000 Car Allowance
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time
I’m recruiting for an experienced Electrical Project & Maintenance Manager to join an established electrical contractor based in Portslade.
This is a varied, hands-on management position overseeing a busy portfolio of domestic and commercial electrical works, managing the day-to-day workload of the electrical team and ensuring jobs are properly coordinated from initial enquiry through to completion.
This isn't purely a desk-based scheduling role. I'm looking for someone with a strong electrical background who understands how jobs should be delivered, can confidently manage electricians and customers, and is comfortable taking ownership when problems arise.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for:
* Managing and allocating the day-to-day workload of the electrical installation team
* Coordinating domestic and commercial electrical works from enquiry through to completion
* Scheduling installations, inspections, follow-up works and site visits
* Managing multiple live jobs, priorities and deadlines
* Liaising with electricians, supervisors, customers, landlords and letting agents
* Preparing quotations and progressing works
* Reviewing and issuing electrical certificates
* Ensuring works and certification meet BS7671 requirements
* Monitoring job progress, quality, compliance and customer satisfaction
* Managing job portals, schedules and customer communications
* Supporting electricians with technical and procedural queries
* Dealing with customer queries, issues and complaints
* Overseeing smaller electrical projects from start to finish
* Identifying and resolving issues that could impact programme, compliance or delivery
What I’m Looking For
Ideally, you’ll have:
* At least 5 years' post-qualification experience within the electrical industry
* Experience across both domestic and commercial electrical works
* Previous management, supervisory or leadership experience
* A good understanding of electrical compliance, certification and BS7671
* Strong organisational and administrative skills
* The ability to manage multiple jobs and changing priorities
* Confidence managing electricians and dealing directly with customers
* A proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach
* Full UK driving licence
Previous experience as an Electrical Project Manager, Maintenance Manager, Contracts Manager, Electrical Supervisor or Electrical Coordinator would be particularly relevant.
A recognised electrical qualification and 2391 Inspection & Testing would also be advantageous.
Package
* £45,000 basic salary
* £5,000 car allowance
* Private healthcare
* 21 days holiday + bank holidays
* Pension
* Free training and development
* Genuine opportunity for career progression
This would suit someone who has come through the electrical industry and is now looking for a role where they can take real ownership of projects, people and the day-to-day running of a busy electrical operation.
If you’re an experienced electrical professional based around Brighton, Hove, Portslade, Shoreham or the surrounding areas, I’d be keen to hear from you
