About the Role
Our client, a world-leading innovator in scientific instrumentation, is seeking a talented Embedded Software Engineer with a strong background in electrical systems to join their R&D team in Cambridge . This role involves designing, developing, and testing embedded software that controls critical hardware components and manages complex electrical systems within their cutting-edge products. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and debug embedded software for microcontrollers and other embedded systems used in scientific instruments.
- Develop firmware for device drivers, communication protocols, and control algorithms for electrical hardware.
- Collaborate closely with electrical and hardware engineers to define software requirements and ensure seamless integration.
- Perform unit testing, integration testing, and system testing to ensure software robustness and reliability.
- Contribute to software architecture decisions and participate in code reviews to maintain high code quality standards.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in embedded software development, with a solid understanding of hardware interaction and electrical principles.
- Proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems and experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Familiarity with hardware debugging tools, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and agile development methodologies.
