About the Role
Our client, a leading technology firm at the forefront of innovation in Cambridge , is seeking a highly skilled Embedded Systems Electrical Engineer . This role is central to the design and development of sophisticated embedded hardware for next-generation electronic products. You will be responsible for the complete lifecycle of embedded electrical systems, from initial concept and component selection through to schematic design, PCB layout, prototyping, and testing. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles combined with deep expertise in microcontroller-based systems and firmware interaction, contributing to a culture of groundbreaking technological advancement.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop embedded hardware systems, including schematic capture, PCB layout , and component selection for microcontrollers, sensors, and communication interfaces.
- Integrate hardware with firmware, working closely with software engineers to ensure seamless functionality.
- Develop and execute hardware testing and validation plans, including signal integrity analysis and power management.
- Troubleshoot and debug complex hardware and firmware issues during the development and production phases.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineering and product management, to define system requirements and specifications.
- Keep abreast of the latest advancements in embedded technologies and componentry.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering , Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in embedded systems hardware design.
- Strong proficiency with microcontrollers (e.g., ARM Cortex-M, ESP32) and associated development tools.
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout software (e.g., Altium Designer, KiCad).
- Familiarity with embedded communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, USB, Ethernet).
- Understanding of firmware development principles and debugging techniques is highly advantageous for this role in Cambridge .
