Emotional Behavioural Specialist FTC

Barking & Dagenham College have an opportunity for you to to join a dynamic team working to support learners with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs, on a full-time, 36 hpw, fixed-term basis to 18th December 2027.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, resilient, and compassionate Emotional Behaviour Lead to support learners in overcoming barriers to learning and achieving their full potential.

The successful candidate will manage an allocated caseload of learners, with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), delivering targeted interventions and personalised 1:1 support to meet identified social, emotional, and behavioural needs. Working closely with teaching staff, families, and external agencies, you will help ensure that this provision is effectively implemented, monitored, and reviewed, enabling learners with SEND make progress towards their individual outcomes.

What You'll Be Doing

You will:

• Work with Curriculum, Learning Support Practitioners and Specialist LSPs to raise the learning attainment of students who have an emotional and behavioural barrier to their learning
• Give support to students, individually or in groups, so they can manage their emotional wellbeing, take part in learning and experience a sense of achievement.
• To assess and record support plans for learners who require strategies to manage their emotional behaviors that can challenge
• Contribute to EHCP annual reviews and impart relevant information on learner's support plan and progress
• To engage with the college's professional development and quality assurance processes in order to develop practice and provide the highest standards of education and care for the college's young people

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a passionate and committed individual who understands the transformational impact ofeducation for SEND students.

You should have:

• Training in the field of SEND
• Level 2 English qualification or equivalent
• Level 2 Math's qualification or equivalent
• Experience of developing effective strategies to promote positive behaviour in students
• Experience of writing behaviour Support Plans or support plans
• Experience of managing challenging and or extreme behaviour

In addition, you will demonstrate:

• Strong Understanding of SEMH Needs - be able to improve learners emotional regulation, support to increase attendance and engagement, build stronger relationships between college, familes and learners, increase better academic and wellbeing outcomes
• A knowledge of safeguarding and wellbeing - an understanding of safeguarding procedures, work with external agencies, ability to identify and support the wellbeing of a learner
• Personal Qualities organised, professional under pressure, resilient and solution focused, good communication and listening skills with young people, manage an allocated case load of learners and devise interventions or 1:1 support.
• Good Collaborative Skills - work well as a team, ability to collaborate with a support staff, teachers and external stakeholders
• Good administrative skills - good report writing, devise support plans, monitor and assess learner outcomes.
• Assess and Monitor - Identify patterns of behaviour, triggers and barriers to learning and monitor attendance.
