About the Role

Our client is seeking a proficient Employment Lawyer to bolster their legal team based in Sunderland . This role is central to advising employers on a full spectrum of employment law issues, from day-to-day advisory work to complex tribunal litigation. You will be instrumental in helping clients navigate the intricacies of UK employment legislation, ensuring compliance and mitigating legal risks within their workforce. The position offers the chance to work with a diverse client base and contribute significantly to the resolution of employment disputes, fostering a proactive approach to HR and legal management.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise employers on all aspects of employment law, including contracts of employment, policies, and procedures.
• Represent clients in Employment Tribunals and higher courts in cases involving unfair dismissal, discrimination, and breach of contract.
• Manage disciplinary and grievance procedures, providing guidance and support to HR departments.
• Conduct employment law training for clients' management and HR teams.
• Draft and review settlement agreements and redundancy packages.
• Stay abreast of changes in employment legislation and provide proactive updates to clients.

Requirements

• A qualified solicitor or barrister with a minimum of 4 years' experience in employment law.
• Strong experience in advising employers on contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
• In-depth knowledge of the Employment Rights Act and other relevant UK legislation.
• Proven experience in handling Employment Tribunal claims.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and client-facing skills.
• Ability to manage a demanding caseload and prioritize effectively.
