Energy Market Analyst (Trading Focus)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and sharp Energy Market Analyst with a focus on trading to join their team in Oxford . You will play a vital role in analyzing energy market trends, forecasting price movements, and providing critical insights to support the company's trading strategies. This position demands a strong quantitative background, an excellent understanding of energy commodities, and the ability to translate complex market data into actionable trading decisions. You will work closely with the trading desk to identify opportunities and manage risks in a dynamic market environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze daily energy market activity across various commodities (e.g., power, gas, carbon credits).
• Develop and refine short-term and long-term price forecasts for key energy markets.
• Conduct fundamental and technical analysis to identify trading opportunities and risks.
• Prepare market intelligence reports and presentations for the trading team and senior management.
• Collaborate with traders to develop and implement hedging and speculative trading strategies.
• Stay abreast of geopolitical events, regulatory changes, and technological advancements impacting energy markets.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as an Energy Market Analyst or in a similar role with a trading focus.
• Proven experience with market analysis tools and data platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv).
• Strong understanding of energy commodity markets , including supply/demand dynamics and price drivers.
• Excellent analytical, quantitative, and communication skills.
