Energy Policy Advisor

About the Role

Our client is seeking an informed and strategic Energy Policy Advisor to join their team in Cambridge , operating on a hybrid basis. This role is integral to shaping the company's approach to energy policy and regulation, both domestically and internationally. You will be responsible for researching, analyzing, and advising on current and emerging energy policies, their potential impacts, and strategic responses. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of energy markets, regulatory frameworks, and sustainability initiatives, and will play a key role in advocating for favorable policies and ensuring compliance. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze national and international energy policies, legislation, and regulatory changes.
• Assess the potential impact of policy developments on the company's operations and strategy.
• Develop policy positions and recommendations for internal stakeholders and external advocacy.
• Prepare policy briefings, reports, and presentations for senior management.
• Engage with government bodies, industry associations, and other stakeholders on policy matters.
• Support the development of corporate sustainability and decarbonization strategies.

Requirements

• Degree in Political Science, Law, Economics, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in energy policy, regulatory affairs, or government relations.
• Strong understanding of the UK and EU energy sectors, including renewable energy, climate policy, and market design.
• Excellent research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Superb written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence decision-making.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and building relationships with policymakers.
