About the Role
Our client is seeking an innovative and experienced Energy Storage Systems Engineer to join their leading-edge technology team. This fully remote role will focus on the design, integration, and optimization of battery energy storage systems (BESS) for a variety of applications, including grid services, renewable energy integration, and electric vehicle infrastructure. You will play a key role in developing cutting-edge solutions that enhance grid stability and accelerate the transition to a sustainable energy future. The successful candidate will thrive in a remote-first environment, collaborating with a global team of experts to push the boundaries of energy storage technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and specify BESS configurations, including battery chemistry selection, power conversion systems, and balance-of-plant components.
- Develop control strategies and software algorithms for optimizing BESS performance, including charge/discharge management and grid interaction.
- Integrate BESS with renewable energy sources (solar, wind) and existing grid infrastructure.
- Perform system modeling and simulations to assess performance, reliability, and economic benefits.
- Conduct technical due diligence and provide engineering support during project development and execution phases.
- Stay current with advancements in battery technology, power electronics, and energy market requirements.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related discipline with a focus on energy storage.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the design, development, or application of battery energy storage systems.
- Strong understanding of battery technologies (Li-ion, flow batteries, etc.), power electronics, and control systems.
- Proficiency with simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD) and system design software.
- Experience with grid interconnection standards and energy market participation is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
