About the Role
Our client is seeking an innovative Energy Storage Systems Engineer to join their growing team in Portsmouth . This role focuses on the design, integration, and optimization of battery energy storage systems (BESS) for grid-scale and behind-the-meter applications. You will contribute to developing cutting-edge solutions that enhance grid stability, integrate renewables, and provide ancillary services. Key Responsibilities
- Design and specify battery energy storage systems (BESS), including battery chemistry, power conversion systems, and control strategies.
- Perform system modeling and simulations to assess performance, efficiency, and grid impact.
- Develop integration plans for BESS with renewable generation sources and existing grid infrastructure.
- Collaborate with procurement and project management teams to ensure successful system deployment and commissioning.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during installation, operation, and maintenance phases.
- Stay abreast of the latest technologies and standards in the energy storage industry.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in the design, analysis, or implementation of energy storage systems .
- Knowledge of battery technologies (Li-ion, flow batteries), power electronics, and control systems.
- Experience with grid integration standards and power system studies.
- Proficiency in simulation software (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink) is desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication abilities.
