Energy Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a proactive Energy Systems Engineer to join their innovative team in Southampton . This role focuses on the design, integration, and optimisation of complex energy systems, including grid-connected solutions, microgrids, and energy storage technologies. You will play a key part in developing sustainable and efficient energy solutions for a diverse range of clients. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in electrical engineering and a passion for advancing clean energy technologies and smart grid solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and engineer integrated energy systems , including renewable generation, storage, and control systems.
• Develop system architectures, specifications, and schematics for new installations and upgrades.
• Perform load flow, short circuit, and stability analysis using industry-standard software.
• Collaborate with project managers, clients, and stakeholders to define project requirements and scope.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to energy system performance and integration.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices in smart grid and energy storage .

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, with a specialization in power systems.
• Minimum of 4 years' experience in the design and analysis of electrical energy systems .
• Proficiency with power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, PSCAD).
• Understanding of renewable energy integration, battery storage technologies, and grid codes.
• Experience with control systems and SCADA integration is advantageous.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
