About the Role
Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Energy Trader to join their trading floor in Leeds . In this fast-paced role, you will be responsible for executing trades in the UK and European power markets, managing risk, and identifying profitable trading opportunities. You will leverage your deep understanding of market dynamics, real-time data analysis, and predictive modelling to make critical trading decisions. This position requires a sharp, decisive individual with a proven ability to perform under pressure and contribute to the financial success of our client's energy trading operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute physical and financial trades in the UK and European power markets , including day-ahead, intraday, and forward contracts.
- Monitor market developments, news, and data in real-time to identify trading opportunities and manage risk exposures.
- Develop and implement trading strategies to optimize portfolio performance and maximize profitability.
- Collaborate closely with risk management and analytical teams to ensure adherence to trading limits and policies.
- Analyse market data, including supply/demand fundamentals, weather forecasts, and regulatory changes affecting energy prices .
- Maintain strong relationships with brokers, counterparties, and market participants.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in energy trading, preferably in the power sector .
- Demonstrated success in executing trades and managing risk in volatile markets.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex market data.
- Excellent understanding of power market structures, trading platforms, and regulatory frameworks in the UK .
- A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
