Energy Trader - Renewables and Carbon

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Energy Trader with specialization in renewables and carbon markets for a fully remote position. This role is critical for optimizing the trading of renewable energy certificates, carbon credits, and associated power products in a rapidly evolving market. You will leverage your deep market knowledge and analytical skills to identify profitable opportunities, manage risks, and execute trades effectively across various platforms. Working remotely, you will collaborate closely with trading teams, risk managers, and renewable energy asset managers, contributing significantly to the company's sustainability goals and financial performance. Key Responsibilities

• Execute trading strategies for renewable energy certificates (RECs), Guarantees of Origin (GOs), and carbon credits (e.g., EUAs, VERs).
• Monitor and analyze market trends, policy developments, and supply/demand dynamics in renewable and carbon markets.
• Manage trading positions and associated risks, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key market participants, brokers, and counterparties.
• Collaborate virtually with internal teams to align trading strategies with asset management and business development objectives.
• Utilize trading platforms and analytical tools to identify arbitrage opportunities and optimize P&L.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in energy trading, with a demonstrable focus on renewable energy and/or carbon markets.
• Proven track record of successful trading execution and risk management in volatile markets.
• Strong understanding of the regulatory frameworks governing renewable energy and carbon trading (e.g., EU ETS, national support schemes).
• Excellent analytical, quantitative, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency with trading software, market data platforms, and risk management systems.
