About the Role
Our client seeks a highly analytical and motivated Energy Trader to join their trading floor operations in Manchester . This dynamic role involves actively participating in the trading of electricity, gas, and other energy commodities across various markets. You will be responsible for executing trades, managing risk, and identifying profitable opportunities based on market analysis and real-time data. The successful candidate will possess a keen understanding of energy market dynamics, a strong quantitative aptitude, and the ability to make swift, informed decisions under pressure, contributing to the company's profitability and market presence in the UK energy market .
Key Responsibilities
- Execute trades in wholesale electricity, gas, and other energy commodity markets.
- Monitor market conditions, news, and economic indicators to identify trading opportunities.
- Develop and implement trading strategies to maximize profit and manage risk exposure.
- Analyze market data, price trends, and volatility to inform trading decisions.
- Communicate effectively with risk management and operations teams to ensure smooth trade settlement.
- Maintain detailed records of trades, positions, and market analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- Proven experience (3+ years) as an energy trader or in a similar trading role, with a deep understanding of energy markets.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with proficiency in statistical analysis and financial modeling.
- Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
- Familiarity with trading platforms and risk management systems.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, essential for the Manchester trading hub.
