About the Role

Our client is looking for a sharp and dedicated Energy Trading Analyst to join their bustling trading floor in Manchester . You will be instrumental in supporting the energy trading desk by providing critical data analysis, market insights, and risk management support. This role demands a keen eye for detail, a strong quantitative background, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stakes trading environment. You will work closely with traders and risk managers to optimise trading strategies and ensure profitable operations within the complex energy markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse market data and identify trading opportunities across various energy commodities (e.g., gas, power, coal).
• Develop and maintain real-time trading dashboards and reporting tools.
• Monitor market positions and assist in managing trading risk exposure.
• Provide analytical support for trade execution and deal validation.
• Stay abreast of market news, economic indicators, and regulatory changes impacting energy trading.

Requirements

• Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Proven experience in an energy trading or analytical support role.
• Strong understanding of financial markets, derivatives, and risk management principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data manipulation skills.
• Proficiency in SQL , Python, or similar analytical tools is highly desirable.
